The laziest man I ever met put popcorn in his pancakes so they would turn over by themselves.

Tuesday March 8 is Pancake Tuesday.

If you have never heard of pancake Tuesday, it is also known as Shrove Tuesday, or more commonly these days, Mardi Gras.  It is the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of the period of fasting and prayer known as Lent.

Typically, Pancake Tuesday is a time to indulge in the foods that contain fats, sugar, and eggs and are restricted during the fasting associated with Lent.

So, it is the perfect day to enjoy a nice plate of plain oatmeal pancakes or Polish apple pancakes with maple syrup.

Do you celebrate Pancake Tuesday or Mardi Gras?

  1. When I was young my parents and my brother and sister and I always had pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. When I got married and had children of my own, my husband and I made it a tradition to celebrate Pancake Tuesday with them. Now that they are married and have children of their own they still celebrate Pancake Tuesday. Also my husband and I still after all these years have pancakes on Tuesday. It’s a nice feeling knowing that we are all doing the same thing on Tuesday. I love it.
