Hot buttered Rum


  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 cups dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves


Cream butter and brown sugar together in a large bowl.  Add spices and mix well.  Spoon into a large jar with a tight fitting lid (a mason jar works for this).  Store in the refrigerator.


Measure 2 tbsp of the mixture into a large mug.  Add a shot of dark rum.  Fill the mug with boiling water and stir.
